Peacemaker star Jennifer Holland wants to see Idris Elba’s Bloodsport cross paths with Cena’s anti-hero one more time in the upcoming spinoff.

Peacemakerstar Jennifer Holland wants to see Idris Elba reprise his character from The Suicide Squad in the upcoming spin-off series. Starring former WWE wrestler turned superstar John Cena, the new HBO Max series from director James Gunn is set to pick up after the events of the 2021 film. In addition to Cena reprising the titular role, the series also sees Steve Agee return as Belle Reeve warden John Economos, and Holland as Amanda Waller’s aide Emilia Harcourt.

In The Suicide Squad, Cena’s Peacemaker and Elba’s Bloodsport were often depicted in the throws of a not-so-friendly rivalry owing to their similar skill sets. Often seeking to one-up the other through displays of marksmanship and their prowess as ruthless killers, the pair’s interactions often lent the film some of its more memorable comedic moments. In the film’s finale, however, Elba’s Bloodsport was ultimately able to prove himself the more capable of the two when he succeeded in shooting Peacemaker’s bullet with his own smaller bullets, seemingly killing him in the process. As The Suicide Squad’s post-credit scene would later prove, however, Peacemaker would ultimately survive that encounter, thus making way for him to move on to helm his own series.

Now, with only days before the first three Peacemaker episodes are scheduled to air on HBO Max, returning The Suicide Squad star Holland suggests that she would like to see the two characters cross paths again. When speaking with, Holland was asked about her preference for any potential cameo appearances from the film and was quick to name Elba’s Bloodsport as her first preference. However, the actress also said she would happily work with “any of the actors from The Suicide Squad again. “ Check out her full comments below:

“I would say maybe if we could get maybe Idris’ character to come onto the show, that would be pretty awesome. Maybe get back into a little bit of that. I don’t know, man. I would work with any of the actors from The Suicide Squad again, that’s for sure. But I think that anything that the fans want to see I’m pretty into because it’s always fun to see these characters cross over from one project to the next.”

This is not the first time fans have been teased with a potential cameo, with Gunn himself previously dropping hints during a watch party for The Suicide Squad that fans may expect “ maybe one more” character to make a surprise appearance during the show. Exactly which character that might be has been the source of much debate and fan speculation, though with Bloodsport being the character responsible for nearly killing Cena’s character, his return would possibly make the most sense. Of course, both Holland and Gunn might be offering eager fans little more than a red herring to throw them off the scent altogether.

Other surviving characters that eager fans would certainly love to see more of include Sylvester Stallone’s King Shark, Daniela Melchior’s Ratcatcher 2, and, of course, Margot Robbie’s beloved Harley Quinn. Perhaps the other most likely candidate, however, could be Sean Gunn’s Weasel, who the post-credit scenes also revealed to be alive after seemingly drowning in the film’s opening sequence. Whether or not Cena’s Peacemaker will have a chance to cross paths with any of his Task Force X teammates remains to be seen, but it’s certain to be an action-packed reunion.
